3 October 2009. This date means nothing to you? Nonetheless, it’s the date on which the brand-new Sisterhood of the Secrets of Dame Gertrude came into being in Nivelles.  3 October 2009. This date means nothing to you? Nonetheless, it’s the date on which the brand-new Sisterhood of the Secrets of Dame Gertrude came into being in Nivelles. Under the leadership of the Grand Prioress, three ladies committed themselves to restoring the reputation of the canistia and created the Sisterhood of the Secrets of Dame Gertrude on the 19th of last September. Long forgotten, this dry biscuit of flour mixed with candied sugar, related to the no less famous Couques of Dinant, dates from the Middle Ages and was distributed to the residents by the abbesses. For those who love food, those fond of new tastes or those curious to rediscover a somewhat old-fashioned taste, these little treats can already be found in some shops in town.
