In 1992, after a ceremony in the course of which the Ketje of Brussels (read: Manneken-pis) was given a brand-new suit by the Brotherhood of the Târte al Djote, the brotherhood had the idea of creating a "mascot" who, following the example of the most celebrated citizen of Brussels, would build a wardrobe over time that would be the envy of many. No sooner thought of than done. Djan Djote, cousin of the already famous jacquemart surveying the city from the top of his tower, was born from a block of linden wood from Dodaine Park.

While they have in common their curly beard, crest and hammer, Djan Djote has attended the ceremony to award quality labels to the 'târte al djote' at Waux Hall every year since 1994. On this occasion, as well as during meetings with other brotherhoods, he is given a new suit.

For enthusiasts, Djan Djote can be admired every day in the windows of the Roman Païs Tourist Office. You will see him dressed in various suits, notably those given by the Saint Gertrude Tower Committee, the Friends of Nature, the Francophone Association of Hospital Pharmacists of Belgium, and many others...
