Feel free to take a look in this beautiful residence from the beginning of the 16th century. You won't be charged by the "bailiff", the representative of the Seigneur who was responsible in days gone by for the investigation of criminal matters. On the contrary, you will be warmly welcomed by the team of the Royal Syndicat d'Initiative (Tourist Office) of Braine-le-Château. Near the château stands a beautiful house dating from the first half of the 16th century. This residence, called for a century the 'Bailiff's' House, and distinguished by a remarkable Renaissance gable in sandstone, was the residence of the bailiff, the representative of the Seigneur who was responsible for the investigation of criminal matters. This beautiful building is presently the headquarters of the Royal Syndicat d'Initiative (Tourist Office) of Braine-le-Château, and offers temporary exhibits on a very regular basis. The Bailiff's House is part of a pedestrian tour of the village of Braine-le-Château. Accompanied by a guide, you will discover the treasures of this pretty village in the Roman Païs over approximately 2 hours. "Discover the Bailiff’s House" |
